Driver Hire

Driver Hire is the UK’s leading supplier of professional drivers and ancillary staff to the business and public sectors. Every day our 100-strong branch network provides over 4,000 drivers to a wide variety of customers ranging from international hauliers and major supermarket groups to builders merchants, multi-drop delivery companies and local councils.

Why Franchising

Why Franchising
Starting up any new business involves an element of risk but it has been demonstrated that franchising can significantly reduce that risk. With franchising, you’re using a business system that has been tried and tested. You receive the benefit of a corporate image, know-how, experience, training and ongoing support, all of which should enable you to build your business quickly and profitably.

In return for these benefits you pay an initial fee to cover the franchisor’s costs incurred in helping you set up, and ongoing fees for the regular support that you receive throughout the term of the franchise. It is your responsibility to provide start-up and working capital for the business, find premises, purchase equipment and employ staff, although the franchisor will provide advice on these matters.
In effect franchising is a business partnership in which both parties, the franchisor and the franchisee, depend upon each other’s efforts for continued success.

The franchise relationship is governed by a detailed legal agreement, in Driver Hire’s case, for a period of 5 years. This agreement sets out the rights and responsibilities of each party and contains the right to renew at the end of the term, subject to satisfactory progress.

Another major benefit of franchising is that banks are generally more willing to lend money to someone investing in a franchise rather than a conventional start-up business. Because of Driver Hire’s successful track record, funding of up to 80% is available subject to status.

The Next Step

If you are looking for a “start-up” or “greenfield” franchise then opportunities are fairly limited as most of the UK is already covered by our 106 existing Driver Hire branches.

However the good news is that we currently have a number of very attractive franchise re-sale opportunities in key locations across the UK. These arise when existing franchisees decide to sell their business, whether for retirement or personal reasons or simply to realise the investment that they have built up over the years. Franchise re-sales are established, trading businesses with a proven track record in their local market place, income and cash flow from Day 1 and ready to move to the next stage in their development. Investment levels depend upon sales and profitability but start at around £50,000. Funding of up to 80% is available from the major banks, subject to status.

Re-sales offer talented, ambitious and self-motivated business people the opportunity to join our network, benefit from our comprehensive support package and reap the financial rewards.

If you want to build a highly profitable business in this growth recruitment sector, and feel that you have the necessary drive, motivation and discipline to work within the Driver Hire franchise network, then we need to talk to each other.

FRANCHISES AVAILABLE FOR SALE

We can offer a number of excellent franchise opportunities in various key UK locations. Some of these are franchise re-sales i.e. established businesses offering an income stream and cash flow from day one. Others are start-up franchises in newly-released territories created by the increased demand for our services. Entry-level investment is a minimum £40,000 and re-sale prices range from £50,000 to £500,000 plus depending upon the trading record, sales and profitability of the individual business.

Wherever you currently reside, we are always interested in meeting with prospective franchise owners who possess good commercial and financial skills, a commitment to the highest standards of customer service and the desire and motivation to build a business with potential to achieve net profits of £100,000 and above.

Franchise Case Study

Franchise Case Study
Every picture tells a story ……………….
When you’re deciding whether to buy a franchise one of the most valuable things you can do is speak with existing franchisees and learn from their experiences. As part of Driver Hire’s franchise assessment programme we provide you with details of every one of our franchisees and encourage you to speak with as many as you like before decisions are made. Driver Hire franchise owners come from all walks of life and just to give you a flavour of their background and previous experience, we’ve included some case studies below.

John Fraser is the franchisee at Driver Hire Hull.
John is a relative newcomer to the Driver Hire network, having purchased his Hull franchise from the previous owners in December 2006. Having originally trained as an accountant, the majority of John’s career was spent managing farm estates on behalf of large organisations. He made the decision to start out in business by himself and when the opportunity arose to buy Driver Hire Hull, John grasped it with both hands.

Says John Warren, Driver Hire’s Franchise Sales Director, “John took over a territory that, although well-established, had seen little growth for several years and he didn’t waste any time in transforming it. He immediately relocated the business to new and larger premises, hired additional office staff and began a concentrated sales and candidate recruitment programme. The results speak for themselves – in little over six months the business is flying high with +50% year-on-year growth and is consistently breaking sales records. It just goes to show that you don’t necessarily need a background in either recruitment or transport to succeed in our business. Much more important are personal qualities such as self-motivation, energy and enthusiasm coupled with sound commercial judgement and the ability to build strong relationships with customers and candidates alike”
